Donna Hay books are a staple in my kitchen and this one is very well-loved. It's packed with recipes for classics done really well and accented with rich, stunning photography. Some recipes features a QR code with a link to a beautiful video with Donna showing her making the dish. 

The recipes are simple enough to use for a basic weeknight dinner but special enough to be dinner party worthy. Hay gives a few "spins" on each classic dish in the book such as 3 different upscale versions of her classic Mac and Cheese including pumpkin and blue cheese, pancetta and oregano and her Super Green Mac and Cheese with spinach and kale.

With over 260 pages (in a heavy hardcover) she covers savory (sushi rice, poached chicken, falafel, short ribs, ramen and more) and sweet dishes (creme brulee, chocolate mousse, Basque cheesecake, doughnuts...just to name a few) and also includes a super informative glossary along with an "extras" section with some of her go-to sauces, frostings, garnishes and other tidbits.
