Romely & Josh Levezow began Makana in 2008 with the desire to create candles that aren’t only beautiful, but free of unnecessary and harmful additives. Makana means "gift" in Hawaiian. Traditional Hawaiian beliefs contend that people, animals, and the land do not exist independently of one another. Rather, all of our destinies are intertwined.
They are hand-poured in small batches using simple, clean ingredients – a botanical wax blend made with coconut and soy waxes, lead-free cotton wicking, and phthalate-free fragrances blended with pure essential oils. No additives, enhancers, colorants, or phthalates added. All ingredients are mindfully-sourced in the USA and are vegan and cruelty-free.
Banyan: A soft, woody blend of santal, fig, amber and cedarwood, with a hint of toasted coconut. Inspired by warm, sultry evenings under a giant banyan tree.

Setting the scene for a perfect island escape: creamy coconut gently layered over a base of Tahitian vanilla and accented by a hint of rum.

Pikake Jasmine: Named by Princess Ka’iulani after the graceful peacocks that roamed her palace gardens, the tiny Pikake blossoms offer the most alluring jasmine fragrance, especially in the evening when the petals open to scent the starlit sky.

Vessel: Hand-poured in a straight-sided, glass vessel with a brushed gold metal lid. Lead-free, BPA-free, and Prop 65 Compliant.
PLEASE READ: Before each lighting (including your first burn session), it is important that you TRIM THE CANDLE WICK TO ABOUT 1/4" IN HEIGHT for a clean, safe and even burning experience. This will prevent a large flame from developing and will prevent smoking. Trimming the wick as recommended will also help extend the life of your candle.
Do not burn candle for more than 3 hours at a time. Additionally, place your candle on a stable surface away from drafts, and away from children and pets. Do not touch a burning candle and allow to cool completely after extinguishing prior to handling.
